Someone on Reddit asks, "What's the best tool for X?" and your product is a perfect answer. If you reply in the first ten minutes, you're one of the first comments people read. If you reply tomorrow, you're comment forty.
Notifier makes this point on its own site. It says the earliest comments often get the most upvotes, "so it's critical to get in there early." Its best-known customer story is about OpenPhone, whose co-founder used Reddit and Notifier to find the company's first 1,000 customers.
I work on KWatch.io, so keep that in mind as you read. We build the same kind of tool. You give it keywords, and it tells you when someone mentions them. This post compares the two on what changes your monthly bill and your reply time. Notifier is the better pick for some teams, and I'll say where.
Closer than most comparisons we've written. Neither is an enterprise dashboard. Both watch posts and comments for your keywords, both run in the cloud without a social account to connect for Reddit, and both send you each match as it comes in.
Notifier calls a saved search a "searcher." On its social listening page it lists Reddit, Instagram, Youtube, Google Search, Hacker News, news sites and blogs, Linkedin, Facebook, TikTok, and Quora. Alerts go out by email or Slack, and its brand tracking page adds webhooks. You can also choose a daily summary instead of instant alerts.
Notifier is also an uptime monitoring company. Its updates page in 2026 is mostly about SSL checks, ping monitors, and status pages, so social listening is one of two products under the same roof.
KWatch covers Reddit, Hacker News, X, Linkedin, Facebook, and Youtube. We send each matching post or comment by email, Slack, or API webhook, and we add an AI label for whether the post is positive, neutral, or negative toward your keyword.
So the coverage overlaps on Reddit, Hacker News, Linkedin, Facebook, and Youtube, and then each tool goes its own way. If your customers talk on TikTok, Instagram, or Quora, Notifier lists those and we don't monitor any of them. The same goes for Google Search results and news sites. If a mention in a trade blog matters as much to you as one on Reddit, that's a real reason to stay with Notifier.
X is the odd one out. Notifier announced in November 2025 that its "Twitter data connection is back up and live," but X isn't on the platform list on its social listening page as I write this. Ask them about it during the trial if X matters to you. On our side, X is on every paid plan, and we include replies, not just posts.
Notifier also has two features we don't. The first is AI verification. You describe in a sentence what a good match looks like, and an AI model checks every match against it before it reaches you. Their own example is Apple, the tech company, against apple, the fruit. If your brand name is a common word, that check will save you a lot of skimming.
The second is history. When you create a searcher, you can turn on a 30-day lookback and see the past month of matches right away. KWatch has no archive. Alerts start from the moment you create them.
The pricing models are where the two products differ the most, and they reward different habits.
These are Notifier's social listening plans as listed on its site in October 2026. Annual billing saves 30%.
| Solo | Team | Business | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $49 | $99 | $199 |
| Annual price, per month | $34 | $69 | $139 |
| Searchers | 3 | 10 | 20 |
| Match credits per month | 15,000 | 50,000 | 100,000 |
| AI credits per month | 15,000 | 50,000 | 100,000 |
| Extra searcher | $20/mo | $20/mo | $20/mo |
There's a 14-day free trial, and I didn't find a free tier for social listening (the free plan on Notifier's site is for uptime monitoring).
The credits are the part to read twice. Every match costs one match credit. With AI verification on, every match sent to the AI costs one AI credit too, even when the AI rejects it. So a broad keyword like a brand name on Reddit spends credits on every hit, good or bad. Notifier says most customers find the included amount is plenty, and you can buy more in the dashboard.
Here are ours, from the KWatch pricing page.
| Free | Essential | Business | Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $19/mo | $79/mo | $199/mo |
| Reddit, Hacker News keyword alerts | 2 each | 20 each | 100 each | 500 each |
| X, Youtube keyword alerts | None | 2 each | 10 each | 50 each |
| Linkedin, Facebook keyword alerts | None | 1 each | 5 each | 25 each |
| Filtering, saved results, AI sentiment | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Slack, API webhooks, MCP | No | No | Yes | Yes |
We count keyword alerts per platform, and there's no per-match credit. A noisy keyword costs you reading time, but it doesn't cost you money.
Which one is cheaper depends on your keywords. Say you want three searches in Slack, mostly on Reddit. That's Notifier Solo at $49 ($34 a month if you pay yearly), against KWatch Business at $79. Notifier wins that one.
Now say you track your brand, three competitors, and six "looking for" phrases on Reddit and Hacker News. That's ten keywords on two platforms, so twenty KWatch alerts, which fits on Essential at $19 with email alerts. On Notifier, ten searchers puts you on Team at $99 (I couldn't confirm from the public pages whether one searcher can cover several platforms, so check that in the trial).
Both say real time, so I looked for the numbers behind it.
Notifier's FAQ says it "notifies you within seconds of new matches." Its Reddit page says alerts are "near real-time," arriving "within minutes of detection." It doesn't publish a check interval per platform that I could find.
We publish ours in the docs.
| Platform | KWatch check interval |
|---|---|
| Reddit, Hacker News | 1 second to 1 minute |
| Linkedin, Youtube | 1 to 10 minutes |
| X, Facebook | 10 minutes to 1 hour |
On Reddit and Hacker News, both tools are fast enough to put you among the first replies. The difference is that you can see where our slower platforms land and plan around it. If Linkedin is your main channel, ten minutes is still well ahead of the conversation.
Following a thread is one. After you reply to someone, KWatch can track the whole Reddit or Hacker News conversation and alert you on every new comment, even when it doesn't contain your keyword. That's how you know the moment the poster answers you. Tracked conversations start at 2 on Essential.
Filtering is another. On Reddit, you can limit an alert to certain subreddits, exclude others, include or exclude specific users, and match whole words or exact case. Notifier supports subreddit and user filters too, and adds its AI check on top, so on noisy keywords I'd call this one even or a small win for them.
Then there's what happens after the alert. Our webhook sends a small JSON body with the platform, keyword, link, author, content, and sentiment. You can pipe that into Zapier, n8n, or Clay and do your own scoring, which our Zapier and n8n guide walks through. If you're moving from a Reddit RSS setup at the same time, our post on the Reddit RSS shutdown covers that part.
If you need TikTok, Instagram, Quora, or news sites, or your brand name is a common word that needs an AI filter, Notifier is the better fit. The same goes if you only run a handful of searches and want them in Slack for under $50.
If your customers are on Reddit, Hacker News, X, and Linkedin, and you'd rather pay per keyword than per match, KWatch will usually cost less and tell you exactly how fast each alert arrives.
The easiest way to decide is to run the same search in both for a week. Put your best "looking for" phrase on Reddit and Hacker News on the KWatch free plan. It gives you 2 Reddit and 2 Hacker News keyword alerts by email, with no time limit. Run the same phrase in Notifier's trial, then compare when each match reached you and how many you'd have answered.
